When/if the earth/Planet Earth trembled and quaked, trembling and quaking.

The mountains will be wiped out.

Those who deserved bliss will be in bliss.

And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

Those who deserved misery will be in misery.

|
And owners/company/friends (of) the bad omen/left side/misfortune, (are) owners/company/ friends (of) the bad/omen/left side/misfortune.

|

And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

Then there is the elite of the elite.
|
|
And the racing/surpassing, (are) the racing/surpassing.

These will be those Nearest to Allah.
|
|
They are those who will be closest (to God).
|
|
Those are the neared/closer.

In Gardens of Bliss:

In the gardens of bliss.

In treed gardens/paradises (of) the comfort and ease.
|

A number of people from those of old,
|

Many from the first generations.
|

A group from the first/beginners.
|
|

|

And a few from those of later times.
|
|
Few from the later generations.
|

And little/few from the others/lasts.

|

(They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),
|
|
On luxurious furnishings.
|
|
On royal beds/sofas lightly woven.
|

Reclining on them, facing each other.
|
|
Enjoying everything, they will be neighbors.
|
|
Leaning/reclining on it, facing each other.
|

Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),
|
|
Serving them will be immortal servants.
|
|
Immortal/eternal children/boys circle/walk around on them.

With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:
|
|
With cups, pitchers and pure drinks.
|
|
With cups and jugs and a cup/wine flowing easily and plentifully.

|
19. * |
No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:
|
|
They never run out, nor do they get bored.
|
|
They do not get headache from it, and nor they be drunk/exhausted.

And with fruits, any that they may select:
|
|
Fruits of their choice.
|
|
And fruits from what they prefer/choose.
|

And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.
|
|
Meat of birds that they desire.
|
|
And bird's meat from what they desire.
|

|

And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-
|
|
Beautiful mates.
|
|
And eyes with intense blackness of pupils and whiteness (beautifully contrasted).
|

|

Like unto Pearls well-guarded.
|
|
Like protected pearls.
|
|
As/like similar/equal (to) the pearls, the covered/protected.
|

A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).
|
|
Rewards for their works.
|
|
Reimbursement because (of) what they were making/doing.
|

Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-
|
|
They never hear any nonsense therein, nor sinful utterances.
|
|
They do not hear/listen (to) nonsense/senseless talk in it, and nor sinning/committing crimes.

Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".
|
|
Only the utterance: "Peace, peace."

Except little : "Greeting/peace." (And): "Greeting/peace."

The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?
|
|
Those of the right side, will be on the right side.
|
|
And the right (hand's) owners/company/friends, (are) the right (hand's) owners/company/friends!.

(They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,
|
|
In lush orchards.
|
|
In bent over/thornless/ripe sedre/a lote tree.

|
Fragrant fruits.
|
|
And acacia/bananas, neatly piled over each other.

|

And shade expanded/spread.
|

By water flowing constantly,
|
|
Abundant water.
|

And poured continuously water.

And fruit in abundance.
|
|
Many fruits.
|
|
And many/much fruits.

Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,

Never ending; never forbidden.

Not cut off/severed, and nor prohibited/forbidden.

And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high.
|
|
Luxurious furnishings.
|
|
And raised spreads/beds.

We have created (their Companions) of special creation.

We create for them mates.
|

We (E) created/originated them (F) creation/origination.
|

And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -

Never previously touched.
|
|
So We created/made them (F) first borns/virgins.

Beloved (by nature), equal in age,-

Perfectly matched.

Humorous (amusing) same age/not aging.

For the Companions of the Right Hand.

To the right (hand's) owners/friends/company.

A (goodly) number from those of old,

The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

Those of the left, will be on the left.
|
|
And the left (hand's) owners/friends/company, (are) the left (hand's) owners/friends/company !.

(They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water,
|
|
In misery and inferno.
|
|
In severe hot wind, and hot water/red hot coal.

And in the shades of Black Smoke:
|
|
Even their shade is hot.
|
|
And shade from black smoke.

Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please:

Never cool, never tolerable.

Not cool/cold, and nor hospitable/kind.

For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury),
|
|
They used to be rich.
|
|
That they truly were before that luxuriated, ungrateful and arrogant.

And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme!
|
|
They insisted on the great blasphemy.
|

And they were persisting/insisting on the sin the great.

And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-
|
|
They said, "After we die and turn to dust and bones, we get resurrected?
|

And they were saying: "Is (it that) if we died, and we were dust/earth and bones, are we being resurrected/revived?"

"(We) and our fathers of old?"
|
|
"Does this include our forefathers?"
|
|
Or (are) our fathers the first/beginners?

Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times,
|
|
Say, "The early generations and the later generations.
|
|
Say: "That truly the first/beginners and the lasts/others."

"All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known.
|
|
"Will be summoned to a meeting on a predetermined day.
|
|
Are being gathered/collected (E) to a known day's appointed time.

"Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!-
|
|
"Then you, O disbelieving strayers.
|

Then, that you are, you the misguided, the liars/deniers/falsifiers.

"Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.
|
|
"Will eat from the trees of bitterness.
|
|
Eating exaggerated/gluttons (E) from trees from deadly food.

"Then will ye fill your insides therewith,
|
|
"Filling your bellies therefrom.
|
|
So you are filling from it the bellies/insides.

"And drink Boiling Water on top of it:

|
"Then drinking on top of it hellish drinks.
|
|
So you are drinking on it from the hot water/red hot coal.

"Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!"
|
|
"Then adding drinks of sand."
|
|
So you are drinking the extreme thirst's drink.

Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital!
|
|
Such is their share on the Day of Judgment.
|
|
That (is) their places of descent (on) the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day.

It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth?
|
|
We have created you, if you could only believe!
|
|
We created you, so if only you believe Me.

Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,-
|
|
Have you noted the semen that you produce?
|
|
Did you see/understand what you ejaculate/discharge semen/sperm?

Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators?
|
|
Did you create it, or did we?
|
|
Do you create it? Or We are the creators?

We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated
|
|
We have predetermined death for you. Nothing can stop us -
|
|
We predestined between you the death/lifelessness, and We are not with being surpassed/preceded.

from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not.

|
from substituting new generations in your place, and establishing what you do not know.
|
|
On that We exchange/replace similar/equal to you, and We create/originate you in what you do not know.

And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises?

You know about the first creation. Do you not remember?
|

See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground?
|
|
Have you noted the crops you reap?
|
|
Did you see/understand what you cultivate/plant ?

Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause?
|

Did you grow them, or did we?
|
|
Do you sow/seed/cultivate it ? Or We are the sowers/seeders/cultivators?401

Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment,
|

If we will, we can turn it into hay. Then you will lament:

If We willed/wanted We would have made it debris/crumbs, so you continued/remained regretting/wondering.

(Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing):

"We lost.
|
|
That We, We are in burdensome debt/loss (E).

"We are deprived."
|
|
But We are deprived.

See ye the water which ye drink?

Have you noted the water you drink?

Did you see/understand the water which you drink?

Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We?
|
|
Did you send it down from the clouds, or did we?
|
|
Did you descend it from the rain/clouds ? Or We are the descenders?

Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks?
|
|
If we will, we can make it salty. You should be thankful.
|
|
If We will/want We made it salty and bitter, so if only you thank/be grateful.

See ye the Fire which ye kindle?
|
|
Have you noted the fire you ignite?
|
|
Did you see/understand the fire which you strike/ignite?

Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?
|
|
Did you initiate its tree, or did we?
|
|
Did you create its trees? Or We are the creators/originators ?

We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.
|
|
We rendered it a reminder, and a useful tool for the users.
|
|
We made it a reminder and a long life/enjoyment to the hungry/starving.

|

Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme!
|
|
You shall glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.
|
|
So praise/glorify with your Lord's name, the great.

Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,-
|
|
I swear by the positions of the stars.
|
|
So I do not (many translations disagree on the use of the negative in this verse it could possibly mean emphasis) swear/make oath with the stars'/planets' positions.

|

And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,-
|
|
This is an oath, if you only knew, that is awesome.

And that it truly is an oath (E), if you know (it is) great.

That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,
|
|
This is an honorable Quran.

Descant from the creations all together's/(universes') Lord.

Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?
|
|
Are you disregarding this narration?
|
|
So is it with this, the information/speech, you are greasing/cheating ?

And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false?
|
|
Do you make it your business that you disbelieve?
|
|
And you make/put your provision that you are lying/denying.

Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-
|
|
When the time comes and it (your soul) reaches your throat -
|
|
So if only that the throat/pharynx (the death) reached.

And ye the while (sit) looking on,-
|
|
you will then look around.
|
|
And you are at that time looking/watching.

But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-
|
|
We are closer to it than you are, but you do not see.
|
|
And We are nearer/closer to it than you, and but you do not see/understand.

|
86. * |
Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-
|
|
If it is true that you do not owe any accounting -
|
|
So if only if you were not indebted.

Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)?
|
|
why do you not restore (your soul), if you are truthful?
|
|
You return it (the life), if you were truthful.

Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah,
|
|
If he is one of those close to Me -
|
|
So but if he was from the neared/closer.
|
|

|

(There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights.
|
|
then joy, flowers, and gardens of bliss.
|
|
So a happiness/rest/mercy, and basil/fragrant plants, and treed gardens/paradises, and comfort and ease (is for him).

|

And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand,
|
|
And if he is one of the right -
|
|
But/as for if (he) was from the right (hand's) owners/company/friends.

(For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand.
|
|
peace is the lot of those on the right.
|
|
So greeting/peace (is) for you from the right (hands') owners/company/friends.

And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong,
|
|
But if he is one of the disbelievers, the strayers -
|
|
And but/as for if (he) was from the liars/deniers/falsifiers, the misguided.

|
|
93. * |
For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water.
|
|
then an abode of inferno -
|
|
So a place of descent from hot water/red hot coal.
|
|

|

And burning in Hell-Fire.
|
|
and burning in Hell.
|
|
And Hell's roasting/suffering.
|
|

Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly.
|
|
This is the absolute truth.
|
|
That truly that it is (E) true, the assurance/certainty.
